Trees, gifts, candles, lights, nativity scenes - looks like Christmas to me. The time of year when most of the world pauses to celebrate the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ, whether they even know it or not.
The question is often asked --- "Should believers join in a time which has become so commercialized? What does all this have to do with Jesus anyway?" Well, I think a lot of it is up to the individual, and his own perception of all the celebration. As for me...
Gifts remind me of the greatest gift ever given - Christ Himself.
Christmas trees cause me to think of the cross and everlasting life through Christ's appearance.
Beautiful lights and candles show the world that we remember Him and His birthday.
Was it actually December 25th? I don't know, and it doesn't matter to me. I feel that every day should be a celebration of the fact that God loved us enough to come down to us, be born as a baby, live a sinless life, and die to pay for sins in our place. In fact, I'm not sure one day is enough to show Him how much believers care about and think of our Lord.
It's not about the giving or the getting or the sales or all the other things, it's about God giving His Son and us receiving this precious gift. May we never forget.
Celebrate Christmas?? OH YEAH!!! It is my way of remembering Jesus' birth.
Happy Birthday Jesus!!! (BTW- Thanks!)
